Tell us a bit about yourself:

I am a self taught photographer living in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. I am also a stay at home mom to a 5.5yo and 4yo! I am originally from Virginia, but I really love living here at the base of the Rockies....but I also miss the trees from back east! 

How long have you been interested in photography?

I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember! I took classes in photography starting in 7th grade and through most of High School. In high school, I wanted to make it into a career, but in college, I ended up getting a degree in Criminal Justice and really didn't touch my camera through out college and for a few years after. It wasn't until my daughter was born in 2005 that I found my passion again. Ever since then, I have been trying to teach my self new aspects of photography. In 2007, my husband bought me macro lens for my camera and thats when I realized how much I love fine art photography and taking close up pictures of flowers, food and pretty much anything else I can find. I opened up my Etsy shop in 2009 and realized my old high school dream of making photography a career! 

Where do you get your inspiration?

I get my inspiration from nature around me. I love spring - its when I get my most inspiration because I love all the amazing flowers blooming that time of year. I just want to try to capture their beauty!

What other things do you enjoy doing?

My husband and I love taking our kids camping and hiking during the spring and summer! I am really itching for a camping trip this summer! haha

another photo shoot

You gotta love em, those photo shoots. I even posed for a couple photos myself, which is a rare happening.  I usually don't pose for photos because I don't find myself very photogenic. Even though these turned out okay, I'd much rather stay on the other side of the camera!

i heart faces

 The theme for this photo challenge at i heart faces really caught my eye: a slice of life.

I have tons of photos that are just random everyday-life photos. But I thought this one would be best:

Yeah, I've shared this once before and I'm still in love with it. The total peacefulness of the shot really gets me. Also, I love the dramatic black and white!

Just a quick post containing mostly photos of the approaching spring. I'm still not convinced that spring has arrived...

Around here it switches between the 60s one day, and the next day is in the mid 30s. It's horribly annoying.

How long have you been interested in making beauty products?

I've been making my own beauty products for a long, long time - I have terrible allergies, and as a teenager, I developed a rash on my face that was like an awful scaly burn, along with acne. My doctor had me taking pills, and using two different prescriptions on my face, with little help. Then, my family moved, and it all went away on its own - my new doctor told me it was most certainly due to airborne allergies in my former climate. Since then, I've discovered that I'm allergic to many ingredients in soap, hair products, and makeup. And I was so Goth! I had to stay out of the sun since I couldn't use white foundation anymore, just activated charcoal in petroleum jelly on my eyes and lips. That was a lot of makeup to have to give up, but I'm thankful now, I'm 41 and my skin is still very smooth, and wrinkle free!

Where do you get your inspiration?

Everywhere! My new line has scents inspired by music, the scents of holidays and spring, flowers, and some of my favorite beverages. I'm heavily influenced by the seasons, I have a huge garden and my own chickens, in the winter there's a lot of dried herbs, pumpkin, and things tend to be a little, well, gloomy - in spring and summer, the colors just become brighter, more citrus, it's just more alive for me in the summer.

What other things do you enjoy doing?

I love knitting and crochet, I really love all fiber arts and have recently begun learning to spin my own yarn. I also love riding my motorcycle, and spending time with my hubby and kids, and the chickens - I have 12, and they are just beautiful and sweet. I also have a full time job outside of my Etsy business, but it really doesn't feed my soul, so I'm really thankful for the creative outlet, and being able to share a bit of that.

How long have I been interested in making cards?

I have been a scrapbooker since I was pregnant with my daughter about 6 years ago, but pages always take me so long to finish. About a year and a half ago, I was surfing the internet looking for inspiration when I stumbled across a few card-making blogs. I was hooked! I love stamping, and I love the smaller canvas of a standard card size, although I'm still a slow crafter!

Where do I get my inspiration?

I find inspiration literally everywhere, including magazine ads, design blogs, and the changing colors of the seasons. But my biggest source of everyday inspiration is definitely the network of amazing designers and card makers in blog-land! I have made some incredible friends through blogging about our shared passion for stamping and card making, and this community of crafters is incredibly generous with ideas, tips, and tutorials. I'm always picking up new techniques and learning about the latest trends just by scrolling through my blog reader each day, and I'm constantly adding new blogs to my list.

What other things do I enjoy doing?

 I dabble in crafts of all kinds, including crochet, basic sewing, and projects with my kids. I love spending time with my family, reading (mostly nonfiction), and gardening. I also think of myself as an amateur nutritionist, as I love to learn about food and fitness and try to find room for healthy choices and exercise every day.

inspiration

I desperately need inspiration. For drawing, for writing, for photography, for fashion. This grey weather is driving me bonkers! There's nothing colorful to photograph and whenever I suggest a photoshoot no one seems to want to have one. And then...
