homework
yep. That's another thing about "regular" school, you get "regular" homework. To be honest, I don't have much, just like 20 math problems and I have to read 5 pages in my "Physical Science" book and take notes, but I'm not used to homework.
I wish I could do all of it on the bus, but we're sitting three to a seat now, and you can't exactly spread out all your notebooks and worksheets when your being crammed against a window ;) actually, the bus isn't that bad, I have 4-6 girls who I can sit with so its always a party ;)
EEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I miss taking photos! I mean, I could bring my camera to school, but I don't have a locker and I already have two bags to lug around, so..... yeah :)
Tonight I have to take some photos, or I might just die a slow and painful death.
Also, I hope all you guys are praying for he victims of hurricane Irene, I know I am :)
have you started school yet?

i believe an interesting title should go here
i've been a bad blogger, and I'm sure if I were a house elf I'd be beating myself with a lamp ("Bad Hannah! Hannah must blog more!"). I love Harry Potter ;)
anywho, I thinks its about time to tell you about my first day of school! Honestly, it was boring, but still somehow fabulous. The second day was the same but we met more of our teachers. I swear we had a meet 'n' greet in every single class (cue the "my name is Hannah, i want to be a photographer, blah blah blah).
Here are some photos from the first day of school:
I've been thinking over the design. I do like the sidebar-header thing, but I'm not totally feeling it. I really like the colors and the fonts though, so....... i think there could be a(nother) design change in the next few days.... possibly hours....
and, since I've missed posting photos so much, here are a few to make up for the 9 billion days I've been gone:

a bit of school talk
okay, I know all you summer-lovers will not want to read this post, so if you're not interested in hearing about the s-word here's a lovely photo to occupy you.
anyway, right, I go to school tomorrow. I do not have an outfit planned. I do not have any notebooks packed. It has not quite sunk in that I will actually be going to school tomorrow, so, that could be a problem.
I am totally excited though, even if there is a math placement test for all the eighth graders (not looking forward to that).
Sorry this is such a quick, chopped-up post, but I seriously need to get some stuff together!
If I'm not dead-tired tomorrow I'll tell you about my first day in junior high ;)
love ya'll!

a quick photo shoot
So, today me, Kate, Jodie and my other friend had a photo shoot. Setting everything up took nearly an hour, while we only actually took photos for a half hour. Anywho, here are some of my favorite shots:
Again, I can only post photos of me, Jodie and Kate, I still have to get permission from my other friend's parents to put her photo up here :)
I'll post some more next time! Which photo is your favorite?

miscellaneous ramblings
in the mountains
last weekend we went to the mountains with our cousins. Naturally we had a blast, and here are some photos to let you have a little taste of the fun...
I'm still not sure if I want to go with the flow and put my header on the sidebar or keep it classic...
thoughts?
curious little paths
okay, wouldn't you want to walk down this path? I did, but my uncle and brother refused. I swear the trees were calling out to me as I walked away, "hannah, walk through uuussssssss!" ;)
photography
I've barely used my new lens at all, and I'm dying to go out on a big photo shoot like this

school
School. I've been composing this post in my head for a while, and I haven't mentioned this to you guys earlier just because the blogger world was my break from all the stressful stuff that came with the change.
Yes, I am going to school this year. Real school. But the school I'm going to is a bit different from other regular public schools.
Let me explain:
those of you who have been reading my blog for quite some time might remember this post. That was really when it all started. When i got bitten by the bug. The school bug. I was curious and frankly, ready for a change. I went for a shadow day at the private school, didn't mind it, and sort of forgot about it. It wasn't until October or so last year when I started thinking again, and I really wanted to look into going to school.
So my mom and I started talking, and we looked at our options.
Option #1: The private school that I shadowed at.
This wasn't an option we looked into too much. The school is only K-8 and I would only be spending one year there, plus, the tuition isn't what I would call "cheap".
Option #2: The local public school
Option #3: Wait another year and apply for a scholarship at a Catholic private high school
Again, we didn't look into this very much. Some of our closest family friends have gone/still go too the school and weren't/aren't very inspired or anything by it.
Option #4: This amazing performing arts public charters school
Aah, this sounded good. This school was just like any other public school, but in the mornings they did academics and in the afternoons they did gym, the regular art class and then you "discipline", which means your special art class. You could apply for dance, theater, musical theater, music, literary arts or media arts. This school seemed like everything I could have ever wanted except for one thing:
The commute.
If I wanted to go to the school I would have to sit on a bus for an hour and a half just one way.
Ouch.
Once we heard that we dropped the subject. Sort of.
Driving in the car one afternoon with my mom out of the blue she asked, "Are you still thinking about (school's name)?"
"Yeah, I really never forgot about it." I said. So my mom said, "Why don't you apply? If you don't get in, fine, that's that, but if you do get in, you can still decide whether you want to go or not."
I applied for the media arts department, mainly for drawing/painting and photography.
A few weeks later we went to one of the events at the school where the literary and media departments team up and make a little show, with the writing students reading their work and the media students displaying their paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs and other beautiful works of art.
After seeing the show and actually being there at the place we were really impressed. And excited. And even more curious.
So we talked to the eighth grade teacher and she was super nice, and said that most students with long commutes sleep in the morning and do homework in the afternoon. This place was getting better every time we found out more about it.
On May 5th, 2011, I got a letter saying that I was accepted, and I decided that I wanted to enroll. So that's that!
One of the best things about the school is how positive everything is there, it seems like the kids and the teachers like being there. I recently had to go too an orientation where I met several other eighth graders, found out about lockers, lunch, classes, and other things that I won't worry about until the first day, which is less than two weeks away.
I'm super excited about this school and am sooo looking forward to being there and excelling in my art. And I don't really care anymore about the bus ride, because what I hear from other students who have a two hour commute one way, its totally worth it.
Has anyone else had a change like this in their life? Going from homeschooling to regular school? Do tell, I'd love to hear your story!
-hannah
p.s. can you count how many times I said "school" in this post?

Yikes! Okay, our public school is really not a good one. I mean, it's not totally awful but........ yeah, its pretty awful.
I could definitely put up with it but my mom and I agreed that I shouldn't have to "put up with" school, I should be able to enjoy it.Option #3: Wait another year and apply for a scholarship at a Catholic private high school

where have I been?
Sorry to leave you guys in the dark for a few days, I just haven't gotten around to upload photos. Anywho, here are some from the past few days:
my new lens! eeeekk! |
I would post more photos but for some reason they seem really pixelated, so I'll try again later :)
Guys, it's that time again:
The change of the blog design.
Personally I really like this one but am getting a bit sick of it. I'm also going to re-design my graphic design site and make a new etsy banner for my shop, so I have a lot to re-do!
Talk to you soon!

not much ado about anything
Have you tried the frappuccino recipe yet? If not, check it out!
Today is the lazy sunday. Besides coming home from the cabin and rushing to church we've done nothing, which I enjoy every once in a while.
But, later today we're getting off our non-active behinds and enjoying some quality time with our neighbors at happy hour.
I know this post is extremely boring, chopped up, and fast, but I have some interesting/exciting news:
I ordered myself a new zoom lens! I am soooooo excited! I've been saving up for it for a couple months now and I'm so glad to have it before I get into the couple senior and family sessions that I'm hoping will happen soon. I'm expecting the lens to come tomorrow, if it does I will most definitely post pictures!
Well, I will leave you now to enjoy the rest of your Sunday afternoon :)

the ultimate recipe that everybody needs to know
Starbucks. When I think of that word only one image pops into my mind:
$$$$$$$
So I did some research. Turns out that you can make your own frappuccino that tastes almost exactly like the Starbucks one! Here's the recipe I use:
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––Ingredients––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
3/4 cup of cold coffee
3 tbls. sugar
1 cup milk
7-10 ice cubes
3 tbls. caramel sauce or chocolate syrup
Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into tall glass and squirt whipped cream on top. Drizzle with caramel sauce or chocolate syrup. Grab a colorful straw and enjoy!
I love these! Tell me what you think :)

vacation part II [photos]
Sorry I haven't posted in a while guys, I have very little access to the internet here, but I'm having a great time on my vacation!
But, good things must come to an end sometime or another and tomorrow I'm leaving. Going home.
I've had such a great time and am dreading getting all my things together tonight. Who agrees that the hardest part about vacation is packing your things to go home?
But, I did have a great time, and I have tons of fun memories to take home with me. A few days ago I went over to my cousin's house and we went shopping, had a sleep over, and hung out the next day. So. Fun. While shopping I got a fabulous top at aeropostale (50% off sale babbyyyyy), and some other stuff that I won't reveal until I get home (this is mostly because my family will be reading this post later and I want to surprise them with what I got for them, especially Kate ;])
Anywho, I have to shout-out to Hope, who won the design giveaway: Hope, I have your design ready, I just haven't been able to show it to you with the lack of internet connection. Very sorry!
I'll sign off now and tell you more about my vacay when i get back!
