happiness

I'll be perfectly honest: I don't feel happy. I've been sitting around all morning just waiting for a call from my mom, who's been at the hospital with my grandpap since 12:30 last night. Things aren't looking good, and all we're hoping is that he won't suffer for much longer.
So no, I'm not happy. But I'm not sad either. Just..... quiet.
All morning I've been sitting and drawing and watching t.v. and texting my friends and just waiting. Drawing and art help calm me down.
So I've been looking through old art, and came across this photo:

Photo Challenge Submission

And it reminded me that life ends for everyone eventually, but while you're here, why not live it to the fullest? Why not be happy?

I made a header for my mom's blog!

And I tried several different designs before I got it right! Here is the old one:

Here is the first one that I tried to make:

I made the tree from a picture of an apple tree in our yard. Any way, the second one:

Again, the tree :) ^ Here's the third:

Notice the kids running around the tree ^_^ I'm gettin' closer to the finished design! Fourth:

Since my mom's blog title is "Being Home", she wanted a house in the design. That's a silhouette of our house. When I showed her the design above she loved it, but wanted the tree and running children, so:

I mashed it together! And there's the finished product! Visit my mom's blog by clicking the final banner!
Which one is your favorite and what do you think of the finished product?

The Lakehouse

The day before his birthday, Luke went with our neighbors up to their lakehouse. He stayed overnight and we came the next day. It was so awesome!!!
I went swimming in a lake for the first time and tubing for the first time. Swimming in the lake was cool but tubing was amazing. I'm a huge roller coaster fan and tubing is sort of like a flat roller coaster with an occasional big bump. It wasn't a windy day so the lake was pretty flat with only a few waves here and there. Photos are soon to come!
We had hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch and went back out on the lake. Kate wasn't sure if she wanted to tube at first but after our neighbors (ages 13 and 9) and us persuading her she changed into her bathing suit. All-in-all, it was a super fun day but when we got home we were all so tired and this morning I was practically asleep while eating breakfast :)
And yesterday it was my mom and dad's anniversary! Yes, the same day as Luke's birthday :)
Happy anniversary Mummy and Daddy! Love you!

I'm BAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!

Yes blog world, I have returned! My vacation was amazing, relaxing and just generally fun.

At first being by myself was strange, but after the first day I was perfectly fine.
Did I cry when my family drove away? Almost.
Did I cry when I had to leave my aunt's? Almost.
Did I cry when I saw my family waiting for me in a parking lot? Did I cry when I saw Mark hanging out the window waving and then dancing around like a maniac when we pulled into the parking lot? Did I cry when they all came running towards me? Did I cry when they gave me a huge group hug?
Of course not. :)
I didn't snap too many photos at my aunt's but when I was at the mountains with my family I went crazy :)

Above is a picture of Pink Piggy. I've had her since I was a baby and of course she had to come ;)
When me and my grandma and my other great aunt were driving to meet my family we stopped at a bead store.
It. Was. So. Beautiful. In. There.
And then in the mountains:

"I'm the tin man!"

For a week I read, wrote, drew, took photos, watched TV and enjoyed my peace and quiet. I said to my mom, "I could easily have stayed for another week." (Just because it was so relaxing, nothing against my family!)
I hope I get to do it next year!! And I got a very special gift from my aunt. I don't feel comfortable posting the gift here so if you would care to know, just shoot me an email!

Mountain pics and cousins :)

I really should be posting these on my photo blog but its so much easier to post them here!

I was in the car when I took these. I love the last one because you can see the sun rays shining through the clouds like the angels are trying to let you see a smidge of heaven.
I've always thought the farm above was beautiful. When we were driving past I finally managed to snag a photo.

Which one is your favorite?
And I am asking a direct question which I would appreciate very much if you'd answer in a comment:
Should I delete my photo blog?
You can answer yes, no, or it's up to you! (meaning me!)
My two awesome cousins are over. They are 9 and 6. Kate loves to play with them and for the past few weeks they've been taking a dance class together. They do musical theater, jazz, tap and ballet. They are currently working on the song "It's a Hard Knock Life" from Annie. One of my favorite songs ever! They are practicing in the basement but since they are really belting out the song you can hear it through the heating vent.
They all have great voices!
They asked me to come down and watch them one time and honestly, it was great! =)
Also, this is something I'm looking forward to when I get my blog makeover:
A double sidebar so my photos can be bigger!

I'm going to the mountains again.........:)

And just to let you know my family will probably be going to our cabin every weekend so I will probably not be posting most Saturdays. Hopefully most Sundays will bring loads of photos from the mountains. So I was thinking about combining my photo blog with this one. Yes I've brought it up before but I really want your honest opinion. I think it would be so much easier just to manage one blog. Anywho, yesterday we had our family over to celebrate my grandma's (my mom's mom) 70th birthday! It was a blast and it was a great opportunity to take lots of photos of my cousins (mostly my baby cousin because I was sort of babysitting her the whole time, which I didn't mind at all, she's so darn cute!). Unfortunately I won't be posting those because I don't think their parents would feel comfortable with their pictures on the internet. There were tons of desserts and I sampled almost everything (which I payed for later, but it was totally worth a little stomach ache!)
Cookies, cake, an awesome pudding/brownie/cool whip/chocolate thing that my aunt brought! (I did not get any pics of that. I know, shame on me!)
There were also three kinds of pies but by the time I finished all the other stuff I was waaayyy too full to risk anything else. So I hung out with my cousins (I am the oldest of all of them but they're all super fun!) and uncles and aunts and snapped photos like crazy. Every time I took a photo of her, my one-year-old cousin would say, "see! See!" so I had to show her a few pictures of her gorgeous self. (Whenever I showed her a picture of herself I think I saw more drool on her face than usual! LOL kidding!)
At the end of the night I played a slideshow for my grandma that featured every member of the past three generations. (Ok, I might have missed one or two of her sibling but everybody makes mistakes, right?)
She loved it! And it was made by yours truly.................... moi! (With a little help from my mom of course!)
So that's what's been going on around here for the past 24 hours!
Gotta get to bed!

A Party and Aunt News =)

My mom is hosting a going away party for my grandma's friend. It's actually going on right now and I haven't gotten any cake yet so I better hurry up with this post before it's gone. Most of the people I don't know so it's kinda boring, which is why I'm upstairs writing this post :)
My mom talked to my great aunt the other day and they thought that I might be able to go there next week *squeals*! I wasn't originally able to because my dad's birthday and my grandma's birthday are next week, but I can go after my dad's b-day because we are probably going up to our mountain house during his and we aren't celebrating my grandma's as soon as I thought we were so.................. yeah :)
I'm so excited I hope I get to go! But my mom told me so suddenly that i was like, "Wow, umm okay..........." I was not expecting it at all! But it was a very nice surprise!
Ok, I'm going to get cake now ;)
And don't forget, if you ever need me to make you a blog button of some sort, I can do it! I think I might start selling the buttons that I make if the first few go well =)

Haircut and Dentist

Hello everybody, sorry I haven't posted in a while, my mom is making me stick to posting three days a week :P Anyway, here's what's goin' on around here:
I got my haircut and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I'll post pics later :) And we went to the dentist yesterday. We go to this dentil school where the college students actually clean our teeth. Usually we get more experienced ones but this time I think we got second years and you could tell that they had almost no idea what they were doing, which wasn't comforting.

According to the poll.........

You guys want me to put up more stories of everyday life in my house and book reviews. Well I have a story for you right now:
Yesterday when I wasn't feeling too sick I helped my mom paint the upstairs hallway. We picked a really pretty light blue and i loved it. First we had to paint around the window and the door frames, just because the roller wouldn't be able to fit in the corners or right next to the door frame. So that was my job. After we finished my mom called Kate and Mark upstairs so they could do their part, which was actually paint the hallway. My job was done until the first coat dried and then back to "tracing the edges". It dried pretty quickly so we just repeated what we did the first time. When Kate and Mark were finally done I came upstairs to look. It was really pretty but there was something wrong.
I looked at Mummy (thats what we call our mom) and she said, "I really like it, but i think it's too........baby boyish." She was right. It was just not a fit color for the hallway. It was waaay too bright. I still liked it, but i had to agree with her. So today we're painting the hallway a different color. It's more grayish, but we already had a little conversation about how it might be a little too gray. Are we never going to find the right color?!? Oh well, i've always liked to paint. And whatever color we pick at least it'll be a fresh and new.
Have any of you guys had a paint disaster/problem?

I Have Returned!!!

So I'm finally back,
and I have a lot to tell!
About two weeks ago my family went to our mountain house.
It was so so so beautiful up there!
I took like, a gazillion pictures and had a very hard time choosing which one to put into this post :)

The snow was melting which meant that there were those little rivers on the side of the paths and I just had to stop and look at every one!

When it was time to leave, we were hoping to be able to sled down the driveway but weren't getting the hang of it, so Luke decided he would give rides on his sled:

We had a blast!
