drawings // dance

Getting back into drawing mode has been such a good thing for me, and I've been into this ballet-stage recently. I've never been a dancer, but I often wish I had the ability to leap into a perfect jeté without pulling every single muscle in my legs. Dancers have the gift of expressing their emotions with movements in an artful form. I put their form of art into my form of art. Enjoy :)

Also, an update about my life/family:
My grandfather had a stroke yesterday morning and is currently being closely watched in the hospital. His brain is bleeding badly and the left side of his body is paralyzed, and the doctors can't operate until they have the bleeding under control. We're really worried, but his situation hasn't gotten worse since yesterday.
If you could just keep him in your prayers that would be awesome!

a few sketches

Hey guys! Sorry for being all MIA for the past few days, I just didn't really have anything to post about :P But I do now! I've been drawing faces lately, and I wanted to share two of them with you guys.
First...
We have my attempt at Taylor Swift. I kinda like how it turned out, but there are several things I want to change. For instance, make the eyes a bit more even :P

And now, ladies and gents, I bring you:

Katniss Everdeen. I don't know if I've told you, but I am obsessed with the Hunger Games series, and I've watched the trailer for the movie at least a thousand times now.
I finished the third book last week and was so disappointed it was over.

If you haven't read the last book yet, do not read the next paragraph. It contains major spoilers!
.
.
.
.
.
Anyway, back to the book. I was sobbing my eyes out when Prim died. I was literally crying like a baby. And Finnick. Omigosh I can hardly talk about it! And honestly, I'm glad that Katniss and Peeta ended up together, but I never really got over the fact that Peeta went kinda insane.
Yeah, my heart still aches whenever I think of Peeta. He'll never be the same in my eyes. And neither will Katniss. Because she just didn't turn out how I thought she would. A mutt. Or partly one anyway. Geez, I'm getting depressed just talking about it. Don't get me wrong, I still am in love with Katniss and Peeta, but it's just so sad.
They'll never be the same.
But seriously, these books are definitely some of my favorites!

Okay, got that out! Did you like the hunger games?

some drawings

so, for the past day and a half I've been looking up photos of celebrities and attempting to draw them. Here are a few ones I've finished:

I don't even know why I'm bothering to post this one. It turned out nothing like Demi Lovato, but I still kinda like it.....

My attempt at Katy Perry. I think I got the eyes right, but I totally messed up on the mouth :P

Okay.... I would call this a mix between Taylor Lautner and John Travolta. You can decide which one it really is....

and, of course, I had to do Taylor Swift. I love her, and this is the first time I've tried to sketch her. I think it turned out okay, but for some reason she seems angry or something...... ;P

What's your favorite thing to draw?

re-thinking

I've been re-thinking my book. Well, that, and I've just been thinking about it. The more I think, the more I want to write it. But honestly, I don't know where to start. I know, I know, if your going to write a book, start at the beginning, but thats not how my brain works.
My mom just told me yesterday when I was saying this to her, that I learned the alphabet by random letters, and eventually I just threw them together and they became the alphabet.

So I started with Jade, As she is my main character.
This is the first re-do of Jade:
I like it, but she seems too shy, too quiet, not like a strong, courageous warrior ;)

I really like this one! Her outfit is just about perfect. When I drew it I could totally see Jade living her life in it :)

I like this one, but its a bit too soft for her. I definitely like #3 the best!

I'll post the re-dos of Trina some other time. I'm not promising tomorrow because I'm still working on them ;)

art+me=a bottomless pit of imagination

i. love. art. I really do. It's a part of me that I need to nurture consistently. Whether its watercolors, a ball point pen or just a broken crayon I need to draw or paint at least once a day.

Drawing relieves me of stress. I let all my emotions flow out onto the paper. Writing also a good stress-reliever, but somehow whenever I grab a notebook and a pen to write my mind goes blank. Meanwhile, when I'm drawing I think up tons of stories in my head and usually the people on the paper end up being the characters. For instance....

Meet Jade

DSC_0001

Jade is a courageous, clever, heroin-to-be. With jade-green eyes and a jade-green scarf around her head, she faces the world with a determination only she can have. Jade was orphaned as a child, her father left before she was born and her mother was tragically killed by Queen Isa's knights, as she was accused for overhearing the queens plan for... well, you'll have to find out ;)

Queen Isa herself adopted the baby and kept the secret of Jade's true mother from her.
As Jade grew up in the castle, she noticed how different she was from her mother. At last, she discovered the truth, and another dangerous secret along with it.

Jade travels around the country, uncovering the mysteries of her past. But she doesn't go alone...

Meet Trina

DSC_0002

Trina, Jade's spunky companion, is the always-optimistic one of the pair. She thinks plans out carefully before she puts them into action, and often does things better when she wings it.

Being half elvish she has an excellent sense of hearing and smell, and is very light on her feet. She often speaks in poetry and is excellent as solving riddles.

Her only real fault is that she breaks down under pressure. Will this weakness end up risking the lives of both her and Jade? You'll have to wait and see ;)

Along their way, Jade and Trina meet friends and foes, allies and enemies and here is one of each:

                  Meet Ana                                                                                                                           Meet Fawn

DSC_0006

Ana is a shy, artistic, caring half-elf. She has a knack for animals and her favorite moments are when she is alone with her pet falcon. She meets Trina and Jade during their adventure and is happy to offer them help when they need it.

Fawn is a quick-thinking, mysterious, beauty. She is also half elfin and brings her mischievousness that is naturally in her elfin blood to a new extent. Her heart smothered in evil, she tries as hard as she can to stop Jade and Trina from finding out the truth of Jade's past.

Well, there you have it! Whenever I draw, things usually end up like that and I'm emersed in my own thoughts and paintings. Which character is your favorite?

In Which I Show You What I've Been Drawing/Painting

The title says it all, so on with the pictures..........
I really, really like this one! Hopefully she'll become a character for a future story soon!

This next one is pretty normal (by "normal" I mean no pointy ears :]).................

Another elv-ish person.
And finally a self portrait:
It somewhat looks like me when I'm smiling, but it's nothing spectacular. I heard somewhere that if you make 5,000 self portraits (maybe it was 500....?) you will be a professional artist. I think this one is number four.............. :)
Do you ever draw self portraits?

Drawings of faces

Since I couldn't think of anything else to post today I decided to show you some faces that I've drawn :]
This is for any "Glee" music fans! I adore Glee but don't watch it very often as it's, uh, *cough* not very appropriate. But the episodes that I've seen I love and the songs are awesome!
My poor attempt at Carrie Underwood. I didn't have much time to draw this :]
Yeah, uh, this started out to be Selena Gomez but after I found out that it wasn't going to end up like her at all I just sorta went crazy ;]

These are just models from a hair magazine.
And I've saved the most unique one for last.................
Supposed to be Demi Lavato but the mouth got kinda messed up. I used nothing but markers for this picture and I can't tell you how much criticism I've gotten on it. How many "no offenses" said behind my back to Kate. My friends, my cousins, all of them have said, "wow, thats scary" to Kate. I don't get offended very easily though, and Kate has stuck up for me, saying, "could you do better?" man I love that gal! And I won't be offended if you don't like it or think it's scary, but I just love it. I think it's creative and different and.............. original ;]

Till next time!
